02 May Joseph and the Power of Patience
Joseph probably sat at the bottom of the pit wondering about the dreams God had given him and doubting. But after years of waiting, the full manifestation of the prophecy for his life was unveiled. Years of faith in God’s perfect plan was brought to fruition as he fed his starving brothers through tears of painful memories for what they had done to him. The necessity of suffering to lead him to this divinely appointed position. The wisdom of God in positioning Joseph to save all of Israel from starvation and to allow them to multiply under the hand of Pharaoh’s rule so that they might eventually become a mighty nation of their own and walk as victors into the Promised Land. And yet what did Joseph think about in those moments before being sold into slavery as he sat in the devastation of betrayal? Did he understand God’s perfect plan in those moments? Did he stand strong in his belief of God’s sovereignty over his life? Sometimes when we see nothing but the dirt crumbling from the walls of the pit surrounding us, we can stand boldly in faith and thank the Lord for putting us exactly where we need to be to bring us into the eventual fullness of His promises for our lives. Sometimes the fulfillment of our dreams begin with difficulty and heartache, struggle and confusion. We wait in weakness for the strength of God’s hand to move. We believe without seeing. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Wait upon the Lord, and He will renew your strength.
