28 Mar Can Christians be demonized?
Arguably, the biggest deception today in the body of Christ is that Christians cannot have demons in their body and soul. It makes them believe they are untouchable. They accept whatever manifestations happen as obviously being from God since they’re clearly saved. They think they can prance through the evil of this world and not be bothered by the darkness. The truth is that if you disobey The Lord, through that sin you create an opening (portal) there for a spirit of that same function (anger, lust, bitterness, fear, anxiety, etc.) to now come in and root in your body and soul. You CANNOT partake in evil things and expect to not be harmed by it.
Your body is a temple. Think of the temple in the OT. When you are saved and born again, the Holy Spirit is put inside your Most Holy Place, your spirit (figuratively your heart). Remember that only the High Priest could enter the Most Holy Place. In the same way, Jesus Christ is the High Priest and is the only power that can enter your spirit. He has sealed your spirit with His. Demons cannot touch it.
BUT your inner court (soul) and your outer court (body) are still susceptible to demonic infiltration. The truth is that demons are not like what you see in Hollywood and pervade all aspects of most people’s lives. Like Jesus overturned the tables of the money changers and drove them out, you too must drive these demons out through seeking deliverance and conducting spiritual warfare. When you’re saved, demons lose their right to be in your body and soul that are there through former sin, but you still must make them leave! Sometimes God graces us with an easy deliverance. Others often have a more difficult time! Demons CANNOT touch your spirit, but your body and soul are fair game. God gives you the power over the enemy. It’s your responsibility to fight! If everyone could understand this truth, I think people would stop resting in their sins and see the importance of obedience and adherence to God’s Word.
If you look up the term “possession” in the KJV Bible you would see it simply means to be demonized. To be influenced by a devil. Not controlled. Christians cannot be “possessed” but they can be influenced (oppressed, demonized). The important distinction to make is that these demons are INSIDE the body and soul. They have come in through your parents sins by way of generational curses, your own sins throughout life, and traumas of your past as a child and otherwise where others sinned against you (rape, molestation, abuse, etc).
Deliverance is for Christians. If you were to cast out demons from an unbeliever there would be no protection for that individual to keep the demons from coming back 7x worse. You would be doing that person a GREAT disservice.
Christians CAN and DO have evil spirits in them. When you start looking at your life, notice how your anger gets out of control sometimes, or you can’t stop masturbating or lusting after men or women, or you have real bad anxiety and panic attacks you can’t control, or you have relentless fear during certain situations. These are ALL strongholds! YOU are ultimately responsible for your actions, but I will tell you first hand that not lusting is MUCH easier to do when you don’t have a spirit of lust inside of you screaming at you to feed it. I’ll testify that my anger used to be COMPLETELY out of control before Christ, controllable after being saved, and COMPLETELY GONE after deliverance.
If everyone would understand this it would then begin to make sense how someone you KNOW is a Christian is now doing all this wackadoodle stuff that is CLEARLY demonic manifestations but somehow people attribute to manifestations of the Holy Spirit.
Look, the Holy Spirit CAN DEFINITELY put you on your face by His heavy manifest presence, BUT uncontrollable jerking, head shaking, weird body contortions, and other unexplainable manifestations are NOT of God. As a deliverance minister, I have seen ALL SORTS of things as demons manifest and leave the body. ALL of these are TEXT BOOK demonic manifestations.
When someone is slain in the Spirit, notice how that person is always shaking in the beginning and then they are completely still once on the ground. As the power of God manifests in a person, it forces the demons to manifest and show themselves. That’s what causes hand shaking, head shaking, contortions, etc. Afterward, when the person is on the floor completely still, this person has just been delivered from those demons in their body and soul. The power of God forces them out. (Note: if you are ever praying in the Spirit and you notice shaking, command the spirit(s) to come out in the name of Jesus Christ! If you notice the shaking increases, then keep going until you feel that spirit leave! Repeat for additional spirits present. Identify each one by function and take authority over it by calling it by name and binding it).
With that said, please note that the DEMONS create these manifestations, NOT God. Sure, the power of God manifesting in a person forced the demon to likewise manifest, but the jerking, shaking, contorting, etc., is caused by the demon! When the demon goes, these manifestations will cease COMPLETELY. If they haven’t, you need further deliverance.
The Holy Spirit does NOT cause drunkenness or feelings of being high. Notice in the book of Acts that the disciples were accused of being drunk, but it’s because they were filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in new tongues, NOT because they were having seizures. People in that era KNEW what demonic manifestations looked like as well. Remember, the disciples were with Jesus and they cast out devils themselves. At WHAT POINT would they accept that the manifestation of the Holy Spirit would look IDENTICAL to those same manifestations they witnessed while conducting deliverance for people? Not possible. At all.
Lastly, this generation wants the highs, the feelings, the signs and wonders, and the instant gratification more than they want The Lord. They want to feed their flesh while calling it worship. They want any excuse they can find to feel important and to be glorified rather than God alone being glorified. Since so many have sought the hand of God and what He can do for them rather than His face and who He is, He has turned them over to their lusts and affections, their passions and wantonness.
If you seek the face of The Lord and remain passionate for HIM and obedient to His voice, signs and wonders WILL and DO follow. His presence does show up and manifest in those He loves. The altars will be full, repentance on a wide scale level would take place and people would be on the floor crying out to God as worthless creatures in need of a Savior. It would be a wonderful occasion. Look toward God and these things will follow. Look for the highs and the drunkenness, and the devil will show up masquerading as an angel of light seeking to deceive and he is VERY organized.
In summary, Christians MUST begin to work out their own salvation in fear and trembling. Find freedom in your life! There are many who can help you be set free! God bless.
